Rules of Use

 

Each person with a login and password to access the restricted GEM alumni directory agrees to respect the following rules and guidelines.

Failure to adhere to the rules could result in sanctions. 

The website gives users access to all or part of the GEM alumni directory.

Access rights are tied to user profiles and each alumni's wish to share or hide their profile information. Non-alumni users and students are not visible in this directory.

 

Rights

This directory allows you to:

  • Contact an alumni or student: Benefit from their experience and contact them about a job opportunity.
  • Manage your profile : 
  • To edit your profile information: Access the "my profile" page to update your personal and professional information. Your profile is your calling card in this network.
  • To edit confidentiality and visibility settings: 

Under “my account” go to the "my preferences" tab to modify the language and choose which school or network publications you wish to subscribe to. 

  • Participate in our network and our communities

 

Obligations

When using this tool, we ask that you:

  • Do not use this directory for commercial purposes
  • Be polite in all circumstances. This network is made available thanks to volunteer work and the respect of each and every participant (student or alumni).

Keep your password and login information SECRET. First and foremost, this will help ensure that no-one with bad intentions gains access to your profile and modifies your personal information. Second, it is essential we protect the contact information of our network members. This directory must be kept private to avoid contact information being used for commercial canvassing, polling or the creation of commercial databases.

  • Keep your directory profile up to date. This will allow you to receive information in a timely manner and in accordance with your needs.
  • Respond to requests and solicitations from the network. This network only works through a virtuous circle. Within reason, please try to answer requests in the same manner, as you would like to be answered when making a request.

 

Sanctions

In accordance with the terms of service, the user is not allowed to actively promote goods or services of any kind.

The user is informed that systematic canvassing, active promotion and advertising can cause the suspension of their access to the Directory.

As a last resort, and in case of repeated non-compliance to the recommendations (as detailed above), the user will see his directory access rights either occasionally withdrawn (i.e. temporary suspension) or definitively closed (i.e. permanent suspension).

These suspensions do not impede you to remain member of the Directory.

 

General Terms of Use

Purpose

The website available at the address alumni.grenoble-em.com and via its GEM Alumni application downloadable from Play Store and Apple Store is a private professional social network provided by Grenoble Ecole de Management to enable its members (students, alumni, etc.) to help each other, stay in touch, facilitate networking, share opportunities, exchange advice and promote training, professional integration, employment and careers. The website and its services are provided by the “AlumnForce” application published by MEVIA, a French Société par actions simplifiée (simplified joint stock company) with capital of €11,300, listed on the Nanterre Trade and Companies Register under number B 501 609 143 and having its registered office located at 93-97 rue Eugène Caron, 92400 Courbevoie, France.
  The purpose of these General Terms of Use is to regulate access to and use of the Website. Please take the time to read this document thoroughly.


  By activating your Account, applying for an Account, making an event booking or purchasing items on the Website, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted all of these General Terms of Use.

 

Definitions

Capitalized terms in the Terms of Sale have the following meanings (unless expressly stated otherwise):

  • Website refers to the Grenoble Ecole de Management website at the address alumni.grenoble-em.com, and the GEM Alumni application downloadable from Play Store and Apple Store which gives access to the Network Services;
  • Users refers to members who can access services via an Account (students, alumni, teachers, recruiters), natural persons registering for an event and Administrators. For each type of User, access to the services may be limited at the Administrators’ discretion.
  • Administrators refers to natural persons who may or may not be employed by Grenoble Ecole de Management, who are authorized to use the Modules of the AlumnForce application for professional or management purposes: they have access to an Account which enables them to set up the Modules and configure or intervene on the Users’ Accounts;
  • Account refers to a valid account giving access to the Website Services;
  • Content refers to any content that Users can download and access from the Website, including but not limited to articles, events, directories, profile sheets containing Personal Data according to the privacy settings that each User has configured from his or her preferences;
  • Personal Data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person; an “identifiable natural person” means a natural person who can be directly or indirectly identified, in particular with reference to an identifier, such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier, or one or more elements specific to his or her physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity;
  • Modules refers to applications used to manage a private professional social network, developed by AlumnForce and accessible as “software as a service” (SaaS);
  • Privacy Policy refers to the document drawn up by GRENOBLE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, presenting the processing of Users’ Personal Data and defining the Users’ corresponding rights; it is entitled: “Protection of Personal Data” and is available here: https://www.grenoble-em.com/protection-des-donnees-caractere-personnel
  • Services refers to the provision of the Modules and the additional services that can be provided on request by AlumnForce to Grenoble Ecole de Management, including configuration, assistance, training, etc.;

 

Scope of the General Terms of Use

These General Terms of Use (“GTU”) are applicable to any use of and access to the Website Services. They are accepted electronically by Users when they activate their Account and upon each modification of the GTU. The GTU may be consulted on the Website at any time. The professional social network is not available on an open-access basis. Access is restricted to Network Users who have accepted the GTU and who have an Account with a username and password.

Users acknowledge that they have read and understood the GTU and agree to be bound by them.

Grenoble Ecole de Management reserves the right to modify the GTU at any time, and shall notify the Users, who agree to familiarize themselves with these changes, of any new version by email.

Description of the services provided by Grenoble Ecole de Management

Grenoble Ecole de Management, alumni relations staff offers its members the following services :

  • Examples: a participatory information service for the network and sharing (news, events, discussions, newsletters, “wall” activities, comments, internal messaging, notifications, shares with social networks, etc.)
  • A directory of User members with access to User profiles
  • A service designed to help users contact each other via an internal messaging system
  • A job vacancy service
  • A participatory Group service
  • An online event ticketing
  • A mentoring and sponsoring service 
  • A geolocation service only available on the application

The purpose of all these services is to bring together Grenoble Ecole de Management alumni and/or students for the promotion of networking, mutual aid, professional integration and career development.

 

Access to services

The Website User acknowledges possessing the skills and resources required to access this Website and having checked that the computer configuration used is virus-free and in perfect working order.

To benefit from access to the network, Users must be alumni, students or staff members of Grenoble Ecole de Management and have an active e-mail address in order to activate their account and participate in the network. Their Account must have been set up in advance by Grenoble Ecole de Management. 

Anonymous visitors can access the website and view public articles or events, but cannot consult profiles, post comments or participate in discussions. They may have access to registration for events open to the public. In this case, they must accept these GTU in order to reserve their participation in this type of event and provide at least their first name, surname and an active email address.

Users undertake to refrain from using a pseudonym or an email address that could infringe the rights of third parties (surname, trademark, etc.), and from usurping another person’s or company’s name, or a registered trademark.

When they first log in, Users must accept and validate the GTU, and update their Account preferences for notifications and the confidentiality levels of their profile information. Their Accounts may be deactivated and then deleted by an Administrator if they remain inactive for more than five years.

 

Administrators

The Administrators declare that they are authorized to use the Services and have accepted the GTU on behalf of Grenoble Ecole de Management. Administrators configure the User Accounts via imports or individual additions. They configure and validate access requests from Users such as representatives of partner companies. Administrators can send access details to each User and are able to block a User’s access if necessary.

 

User Accounts

Users may access the Services after accepting the GTU and only if the User’s Account has been previously created by Grenoble Ecole de Management with at least a First Name, a Surname and an active E-mail. Users will need to provide at least one active email address and enter their password to identify themselves when they first log in. They can subsequently modify and update their email address and password at any time via the Account Management section. They can then access their User menu to consult the different Modules of the platform corresponding to the access authorizations granted according to their User types.

 

Password

The password associated with each Account is strictly personal and confidential and must not be shared with any third parties. Users are responsible for the loss or theft of their password. We recommend that Users change their passwords regularly and choose complex passwords with at least 12 characters including letters, numbers and special characters. Each user is free to change their password at any time in the area provided for this purpose.

 

Uses of services

The texts, software, images, videos, data and any other work present on this Website are protected by the Intellectual Property Code. Website Users undertake to refrain from reproducing this content without the express consent of Grenoble Ecole de Management. Users undertake to refrain from copying or selling the Modules and the Website, in whole or in part.

Users declare to Grenoble Ecole de Management that they possess the necessary rights, including all intellectual property rights for the articles, testimonials, comments, images and data of any nature that they disclose on this Website, and which allow them to grant the rights transmitted herein.

The User expressly consents, free of charge, to the reproduction and/or representation of their comments and testimonies in communication materials intended for the promotion of Grenoble Ecole de Management, for the entire legal period of protection of these comments and testimonies.

Messages and images are posted under the responsibility of their author, who undertakes to assume any responsibility and consequences related thereto. In particular, the authors of messages undertake to hold Grenoble Ecole de Management  harmless against any and all actions taken by third parties caused by, based on, or originating from the contents of their messages. They therefore undertake to pay the full amount of any penalties and related defense costs, or any settlement compensation that may be due in the context of the dispute. The Website’s representatives decline any and all liability for the content of messages posted by users.

Users are responsible for the Accounts assigned to them from the date of their activation. It is their duty to keep their Accounts confidential and not divulge their details to any other person. Users are solely responsible for the uses made of their Accounts, and for any Content published via their Accounts.

Out of respect for everyone and in their best interests, the following are prohibited: messages of an insulting, offensive, obscene or defamatory nature, content infringing other people’s rights, violent comments or those promoting racism, pornography, pedophilia or crimes and misdemeanors, and the misappropriation of the Website for propaganda, business development or political purposes.

Users can report any disturbing messages to the Administrator. The Administrator may delete any messages that infringe the abovementioned conditions, without notice

Grenoble Ecole de Management reserves the right, without justification, to deny Website access to any Visitor or User who fails to comply with these terms of use or the applicable law. Visitors or Users who consider that they have been erroneously denied access may contact Grenoble Ecole de Management.

 

Participation in Groups

Provided that the Group Module is active, the Website enables users to create small groups with a specific focus within the network. They may be organized in relation to a city, a region or a professional theme, for example. In this way, each group’s members can have access to articles, events, forums, media, or a directory specific to their group. Each group and its members must comply with the provisions of these GTU.

 

Submission of job offers

Any Website Users who submit a job offer undertake to refrain from using any criteria of a prohibited or discriminatory nature, including on the following grounds: origin, gender, morals, sexual orientation or identity, age, family situation or pregnancy, genetic characteristics, actual or supposed membership or non-membership of an ethnic group, nation or race, political opinions, trade union or mutualist activities, religious beliefs, physical appearance, etc. (Art. L 1132-1, L 1142-1, L 5531-2 of the French Labor Code)

Personal Data Protection and Privacy Policies
 

Grenoble Ecole de Management is responsible for the processing of the personal data referred to herein.

The data enabling the activation of the User’s Account on the Website are initially transmitted by Grenoble Ecole de Management. These data are required in order create User Accounts and grant access to the services. They consist of the User’s first name, surname, email address and course(s) of study. When activating the Account on Alumnforce, Users agree to the transfer of their data and can choose whether or not to allow other users to see this information. Existing data are then duplicated on the alumni platform and are retained when the student graduates.

By managing their privacy options, Users can restrict other Users’ access to their information.

The other data can be updated on an optional basis by the Users themselves via their profile in order to present their expertise and projects to other Users with a view to interacting and creating opportunities for discussion, networking, and generating statistics on professional mobility:

- Profile photograph

- Presentation

- Personal details (fixed and mobile telephone numbers, personal email address(es), main and secondary address), date of birth, married name, family status

- Current job and professional contact information (position, typical function, company, basic post, and sector)

- Previous job(s)

- Current situation and professional aspirations

- Competencies acquired and languages spoken

- Additional training

- Membership of Grenoble Ecole de Management’s associations

- Curriculum vitae (via an uploaded file or generated on the basis of previous information)

The Users’ identity (First Name, Last Name, Photograph, City, Country, Position, Company) is visible to other Users via the Directory (list and map view) and via any interaction on the professional social network due to an activity or the User’s participation in an article, event, comment, group or discussion.

The information collected on the Website is intended for other Users of the network (students, alumni, authorized recruiters and administrators). In addition, Personal Data relating to the Users’ professional situation may be intended for consultation by authorized GRENOBLE ECOLE DE MANAGEMENT staff in charge of promoting the services and offers of Grenoble Ecole de Management

Users' Personal Data is only publicly displayed if the Users have activated their public profile or Public CV. Each User is free to activate or deactivate his or her public profile at any time. Nevertheless, in order to ensure the visibility of the community, surnames/first names/graduating classes are displayed even if accounts are not activated.

Visitors from outside the network who register for an event will be required to provide at least the following data:

- First Name, Surname, Email address. When paying for a service on the Website (e.g. event ticket, membership fees, donation or subscription), we will ask you to provide your shipping and billing address in order to create an order and an associated receipt. We do not store any credit card or bank details; this information is processed by our online payment processing provider Mercanet.

When you use the Website, we automatically collect information, including personal information, about the services you use and how you use them. We require this information to ensure the proper execution of the service provided, to comply with the legal obligations, and due to our legitimate interest in ensuring the provision and improvement of the Website’s functionalities:

  • geolocation information: when you use certain Website functionalities, we may collect information about your location, either from your IP address or the GPS data for your mobile device, in order to offer you a better user experience. Most mobile devices allow you to control or turn off the use of location-based services in applications via the device settings menu.
  • usage information: we collect information about your interactions on the Website, such as the pages or content you consult, your searches, purchases you make and other actions on the Website, with a view to improving the Website Services.
  • login and device data: we automatically collect login and device data when you access the Website. This information includes, but is not limited to: information on how you have used the Website, IP address, access dates and times, computer hardware and software data, device data, data associated with device use, unique identifiers, crash data, and cookies. This information enables us to improve the Website’s performance and the quality of the Services, but also to detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, security incidents and other harmful activities.

Users agree to check that their Personal Data is accurate and up to date. We will contact you regularly for this purpose.

Information about Users that is contained in the professional network’s database remains the property of these Users. In accordance with the applicable regulations on the protection of personal data in force, and in particular with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) no. 2016/679 of 27 April 2016 and the French Data Protection and Civil Liberties Act (Loi informatique et libertés) no. 78/17 of 6 January 1978 as amended, Website Users have the following rights:

  • right of access (Article 15, GDPR), to rectification (Article 16, GDPR), to the updating and completeness of Users’ data
  • right to the erasure of Users’ personal data (Article 17, GDPR)
  • right to withdraw consent at any time (Article 13-2c, GDPR)

  • right to the portability of data provided by Users (Article 20, GDPR)

Any Network User may freely modify or delete information that he or she has personally entered on the network. He or she may also require that any information concerning him or her that is provided by Grenoble Ecole de Management be rectified, completed, clarified, updated or deleted. Certain GEM employees may perform updates when they are aware of a change in your professional situation or other details. In this case, you will be notified of such changes by email, which will enable you to access them and modify them.

Grenoble Ecole de Management and its authorized personnel have sole authority to store the data. However, after a period of five (5) years of inactivity, the User’s Personal Data might be deleted from the platform.

Website Users acknowledge that they are aware of the risks associated with the use of the Internet and networks, especially the fact that information relating to their personal data may be copied or intercepted. Website Users acknowledge that they accept these risks, for which Grenoble Ecole de Management cannot be held liable under any circumstances. Grenoble Ecole de Management and MEVIA, its subcontractor within the meaning of the applicable regulations on the protection of personal data, for its part, implements all the technical and human resources at its disposal to provide a constant level of security in accordance with the best professional practices in this field and in order to prevent attacks by malicious persons. The safeguards we use to protect your information include firewalls and encrypted data transmission using SSL/HTTPS technology.

The User is also informed that the personal data is hosted on French and European territory.

 

Guarantees

Grenoble Ecole de Management undertakes to pay particular attention to the accuracy of the information exchanged on the Website, and to keep it regularly updated. However, errors or omissions may occur. In such cases, please inform us about them so that we can make the necessary corrections. While carrying out occasional checks and interventions, the Website Administrator undertakes to refrain from modifying the Content in a way that could change its meaning. However, the Administrator reserves the right to move Content to a different location if he or she notices a blatant thematic classification error.

Grenoble Ecole de Management does not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Website, particularly in the event of interventions for maintenance, repairs, or disruption of Internet connections. It cannot be held responsible for technical failures and associated losses of data, nor for any other indirect damage that may occur during, or in relation to the use of the Website.

 

Applicable law 

The General Terms of Use are governed by French law alone. Any dispute arising in relation to the validity, interpretation and/or execution, termination or breach of these GTU, shall, if all attempts at conciliation have failed, be referred to the competent court of Grenoble.
